Tanya Bouchard – Nipissing District Paramedic Services – Case Study

PeerConnect for Nipissing District Paramedic Services has been a tremendous success since its implementation. As the peer support coordinator, I have seen first-hand the positive impact this app has had on the mental wellbeing of our staff.

Initially, I was drawn to the system because of its unique approach to offering mental health resources, information, and help with anonymity and trust. The app provides a discreet way for our staff to access mental health resources, regardless of their location or the time of day.

The greatest benefit of implementing PeerConnect has been the tool it provides to all members of our service. It has been an amazing addition, especially for new staff who are well-versed in technology. It has been a great resource to all members regardless of location, and it has helped with personal, cumulative, or critical incidences.

If I were to promote PeerConnect to another organization, I would focus on the ease of use, the ability to have round-the-clock help for everyone in the company, as well as the ability to keep things confidential. This has been a game-changer for our staff, and I would highly recommend it to other organizations.

One of the most amazing things I have witnessed is the change in mindset from the staff members who were initially skeptical about using the app. Once they have access to it and start using it, they see how great it is, and this has become a great way to promote the app to others.

Overall, PeerConnect has been a crucial addition to Nipissing District Paramedic Services, and it has contributed significantly to the mental wellbeing of our staff. It is an innovative solution that provides easy access to mental health resources, and I would highly recommend it to any organization looking to support their staff’s mental wellbeing.

    Why Peer Support?

Supervisors have the best of intentions when it comes to supporting their paramedical team, but aren’t sure where to begin implementing a workplace wellness program, or if their current efforts are doing the job.

The First Response App and Platform provides first response workers with a secure place to request contact from a Peer Support worker, and allows wellness coordinators to ensure the needs of their members are managed and cared for.

    What Leaders are Saying

We’ve been searching for a program that would help us more easily connect our firefighters to their peer support teams, both internally and across our partner agencies. There is nothing we have found that provides the features and value that PeerConnect offers, and we are excited about the possibilities this app has opened for us in offering more support to our membership and communities.

PeerConnect is the only program I have seen that will increase access to care and reduce the time and resources spent coordinating our Peer Support teams.

As a clinical researcher and trainer in the mental health space, I appreciate the importance and sustainability of First Response Mental Health's program. Organizations who use the system and participate in the training will see an increase in helpful interactions and communication among their team members, leading to healthier and more supportive workplaces.
