Following his interview, we asked Austin and Brad to tell us more about the podcast and the work they are doing.

No One Fights Alone

We recognize that our brave first responders face unique challenges that are often overlooked, such as traumatic stress, substance abuse, and depression. It’s our goal to help them find treatment centers and non-profit organizations that can offer compassionate care in a safe and secure environment. We are also dedicated to creating open honest dialogue about mental health issues, providing resources for those who need help. Through our podcast, we strive to create awareness of the struggles faced by first responders. Reducing the stigma associated with seeking treatment, and support those looking for help.

Furthermore, by sharing stories and experiences, we hope to inspire others to reach out and get the help they need. We are committed to building a strong support system for first responders. Making sure that no one has to fight their battles alone. We invite you to join us on our journey, as together we work towards creating a healthier community.

Your Hosts

Brad Shepherd

Brad Shepherd is your host on the podcast, along with co-host Austin Pederson. He brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience to the table, having served in Oklahoma for several departments. He was also part of his department’s peer support team and continues to use his knowledge to teach CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) and peer support in departments around the country. After facing his own demons with PTSD, Brad began his healing journey. He is now the director of public safety at Chateau Recovery. On the podcast, Brad shares insights into mental health for first responders and how to take care of their mental well-being.

Brad has always had a passion for learning and teaching, which is why he joined the podcast. His goal was to bring together people from across the country who have expertise in various areas of their craft or industry.

In 2023, Brad was able to take this mission one step further and attract some of the most successful individuals, entrepreneurs, and leaders in their respective fields as guest speakers. Through these conversations, Brad was able to open up a new line of communication that provided listeners with access to resources they may not have been aware of.

The podcast has become an invaluable resource for anyone looking to gain an in-depth understanding of what it’s like to be a First Responder. Brad continues to bring together inspiring individuals from around the world every week on the podcast.
